Hi dear family and friends,

It's a strange feeling flying into join Tioram in a different country to where we left her.

It is the only part of the continuous 'Tioram voyage' that I haven't sailed in 5 years and thousands of nautical miles since leaving the UK in 2009.

However,  it has been for an important reason. I stayed behind in the UK to help support my Mom through her first stage of chemotherapy. She is bravely facing 30 weeks of treatment and we are all looking forward to her finishing chemo at the end of the summer and getting well again.

Tony has sailed Tioram from Greece to Sardinia with the kind help of Debs and Pete, two friends whom we met sailing their boat in the Ionian Islands.  It was Debs first offshore voyage and her blog, ' Debs story',  describes their trip from Corfu to Sardinia.

We would like to say a big thank you to them for their help sailing Tioram and enabling me to stay at home longer with Mom and Dad.

We have visited Sardinia three times before but only on the south coast and so the beautiful Costa Smeralda, north east coast, the Maddalena archipelago  and Corsica is waiting to be explored.

Sardinia is home to our other friends Lorenzo and Mabi. We met them 5 years ago in Gran Canaria at the start of the ARC Atlantic crossing. They have exactly the same boat as us.

We shared a great experience with them crossing the Atlantic and meeting occasionally in different Caribbean islands. On one occasion we met them at the glorious Tobago Cays in the Grenadines. We sat on a pearl white beach with the most stunningly clear turquoise water.

I said to Mabi that  it was the most stunningly beautiful paradise beach I had ever seen............she answered me, ' Yes it is beautiful but it is only equal to the Costa Smeralda'..........we hope she is right as it has inspired us to explore this beautiful area this summer.
