Our last blog left us asking the qustion, ' to head
East or West?'.
Our intention had been to head West to the ARC
again and the Caribbean. However, we have decided to postpone the challenge
of facing another Atlantic crossing until sometime in
the future but for now we are heading to glorious Greece, the land of
whitewashed 'chora' villages, turquoise sea and the simple life.
Greece may be in a messy 'credit and
euro crisis', especially on the mainland and Athens, however last year we
saw that it had little impact on island life.
The Greek people who live on the islands, especially those
less touched by tourism, have historically faced centuries of invasions,
occupied in WW2 and faced the toils of producing simple self sufficient
agriculture and harvesting food from the sea------- for many life goes on
unchanged.
This is the Greece we love and hope to enjoy
again...............................
