After three scorching days in Ayios Eufimia, Kefalonia we set sail for Kioni on Ithaka.  The weather has been just fab for late season.

We headed north along the channel between Kefalonia and Ithaka motoring in 2 knots of light breeze on the nose. We arrived in Kioni and moored stern to the waterfront quay.
The harbour and village are a picture postcard of whitewashed houses, many of which are of the Venetian style and pre-date the earthquake of 1953 which destroyed nearly all of the beautiful Venetian buildings on the islands.
The landscapes and gardens are like ‘springtime’ again----renewed after the first rainstorms in 3 months----- all green, fine shoots of new grass, lots of flowers in bloom and the scent of jasmin in the air---------hard to imagine on the 1st of October.

We tried to get into Kioni in August but it was impossible with boats literally driving at one another to get spaces, so we left and decided to wait until the end of the summer.
No doubt Kioni is a sleepy place in winter when many of the Greek holiday homes are closed up. They are  owned by American/Australian and South African/ Greek descendants of Kioni emigrant's.

In late summer the small handful of taverna's, a trendy cafe and one supermarket support the visiting yachts.
