Paxos is five miles long and two miles wide. The island is famous for producing excellent Olive oil which we are told is bought by Harrods.
It must have once been a sleepy place with a sheltered natural harbour at Gaios.  The harbour is protected by another tiny island which creates a narrow area of water not unlike a river.
Yachts anchor and go stern to the small quay which runs along the seafront and out of town where the draft ( we need 2.3m min) was better for us.
 
Paxos is a little gem, it has of course been discovered by tourists and is only 7 miles south of Corfu.  However, at this time of year the locals and visitors mingle together on the seafront and in the main square.  It has some very sophisticated tavernas and shops as a contrast to the old beautifully intact Venetian town--- lets hope it doesnât change too much more.
