Historically a fortified citadel, today a beautiful example of medieval
architecture. Narrow streets which turn at the length of the flight of an
arrow---historically making them defendable---adds mystery to the atmosphere of
the city, particularly at night.
The streets open up into a small square where the Cathedral is situated. It
is well worth a visit and the photographs below only give a whisper of its
beauty and elegance.
Architecturally it is stunning, it is quite simply a gem and our favourite
on the island. It did make us wonder what Valletta would have been
like before the second world war bombings ?
