Hello from Tioram

Well Happy Birthday Tina. She says its good to be 40  ish! Celebrations are planned for later today as cake and grog has been ordered from the Horta yacht delivery service!

The wind over night has gone very light and moved behind us. We are still motoring with poled out main and genoa to keep our speed to Horta. The promised increase in wind has not yet happened but should do sometime over the next few hours and then we should have over 18 knots for the rest of the trip.Tioram will do well over 7 knots in those conditions. The downside is that we may get some rain as the two fronts cross over us.

As we have been motoring for the last 24 hours the opportunity to catch up on sleep and domestic duties has been seized by many. The night is actually now quite short with a full moon most of the night and dawn coming up on ships time before 4:00am. This means that night watches are enjoyable although full wet gear is required due to the damp. Dolphins continue to play around the boat on a regular basis and seem always to do some new tricks to keep us amused.

Considerable conversation is expended about the fleshpots of Horta and the world famous bar visited by many transatlantic yachties. The skipper apperas to be calculating landfall at a time when the bar is open.

Otherwise a very quite day so far, awaiting the delight of James's home cooking as he bakes Tina's birthday cake later on to today.

Perhaps more later.

Cheers from Tioram
