On 29th November, our Spanish friends Maria and Pepe invited us to their country house again for another party with their Argentinian friends.
The Spanish people certainly know how to party !!!!!!Smile

This time the menu was ‘Migas’.  It translates as ‘crumbs’ and in the distant past was a peasant dish prepared from simple ingredients of Flour, Olive oil, a little garlic and water.
The mixture is vigorously turned in a huge frying pan over heat.  The doughy mixture gradually absorbs the liquid becoming stickier and eventually forming small ‘crumb-like’ pieces.
The chef gets a work-out, constantly turning the mixture with two spatulas ensuring the Migas is properly and evenly cooked.
Maria won ‘gold stars’ for her 30 minute gymnasium wrestle.

No Spanish or Argentinian meal is complete without meat or fish and so the BBQ was fired up again for typical pork sausages, a kind of black pudding and chicken.
Traditionally ‘Migas’ is served with pork sausages and a fried egg broken over the top or if not with meat  it is served solely with grapes.
We also ate ‘Patatas a la Pobre’,   potatoes of the poor or peasants another old traditional dish of potatoes and onions and sometimes red peppers cooked slowly in olive oil, a real favourite of mine.

No chance of a diet for us running up to Christmas----- and no chance of wearing that little ‘black’ dress--- well not for Tony that is !!!

Another lovely day had by all eleven of us----- more food, more vino tinto and cava, more laughter, great ‘Migas’ and hospitality.
