Mom and Dad had a lovely holiday with us.  It was in fact their inspiration which led us to winter in Malta as they have spent many happy long winter holidays here in the past.
We visited most of the island with them and also Gozo, Maltaâs smaller island neighbour.
Visits of interest where to Gozoâs capital Victoria, named in 1897 for Queen Victoriaâs Diamond Jubilee. However, historically and today locally, it is known as Rabat. The town has interesting streets and squares leading to the Citadel.  The fortifications date from the 16th century and it is said that historically the complete population of Gozo would shelter inside the walls at sunset.
A precaution quite necessary due to the many invasions which both Gozo and Malta have suffered through the centuries.
Mom, Dad, Tony and I enjoyed a day in the capital ( photos below ) and then took the ferry back to Malta past Comino, an island gem which creates a shallow bay called the Blue Lagoon---no doubt a stunning anchorage on a summerâs day.

Another un- miss able visit is to the Grand Masterâs Palace and Armoury in Valletta, Malta. The Palace has stunning interiors and the armoury houses on of the worldâs greatest collections of exquisitely detailed and decorated yet functional battle armour. ( photos below ).

And of course we couldnât miss taking Mom and Dad to our favourite âMuseum cafeâ mentioned in a previous blog.
