Boat time 10.51 am Saturday 17th. We are now around
half way through the first part of our trip to the Messina straits. 130 miles
completed. The sun is out and the sea flat. A lovely day, but no wind. A day of
steady motoring with maybe a suggestion of a light southerly wind tomorrow. Its
important that we pass through the straits in daylight. Its a busy shipping lane
and also with alot of ferry traffic crossing between mainland Italy and Sicily.
Should arrive at the entrance to the straits about 10.00am
tomorrow.
Everyone is relaxed on deck and enjoying the
sunshine after that traditional sailing breakfast of a bacon and egg butty. :)
We have had a small bird spend the night with us, tucked up in the mainsail and
I forgot to mention that yesterday evening we had our first dolphins, three
small ones that just spent a few moments with us. Its nice to be back at
sea.
