On the 18th October at 09.05 we slipped our lines from San Antonio marina, Ibiza to sail the 150n miles and 24 hour trip back to the Spanish mainland. By 16.40 hrs we were 36 n miles east of Benidorm.

Our intention was to stay well off the Mar Menor as the coastline shallows very rapidly and creates an uncomfortable sea. However, at 17.25 hrs and going into an overnight sail we heard a Coalition Warship 23 n miles from us making announcements asking for any 'acts of terrorism' to be reported as they were standing by.

Tony and I had been deliberately 'off grid ' all summer and firmly unplugged from global affairs.

So on a yacht at sea, just the two of us, going into night fall, with a coalition warship requesting information about any acts of terrorism.............and only 120 n miles from the African coast......we decided to change course to head into the Spanish coast.

This made us feel safer, not knowing what was happening out there, but unfortunately meant we had a rough ride in fairly big seas and a following wind off the Mar Menor.

Finally we anchored for a rest in a bay called La Azohia before heading into Spain at 12.35 hrs on 19th October.

Photos below......the warm welcome 'bienvenido' from our Spanish and English friends in the marina.

Tioram safely back to Spain for the winter.

Love to all
