Since 0200hrs this morning (Mon15th June) Tioram
has been sailing well. The wind went West and increased to 15kts
giving us a good close reach with Tioram making an easy 8kts.
Great to switch off the motor and enjoy the sailing
We have now sailed 328nm on the trip
(1530hrs) and are 140nm from Cape
Finisterre.
A couple of hours ago we launched the giant
colourful cruising chute when the wind eased. After a short while there
was a loud bang from the masthead and something fell down and
overboard. Part of the spinnaker halyard block has collapsed
and we were thankful to furl the big sail and get it back down on the deckwith
no further damage. No worries everyone is fine.
We need to go up the mast to replace the block and
re-run the rope which is easy in calm water but a more risky in a
lumpy seaway. We have decided to take the inside passage at the Cape
Finisterre Traffic Separation Zone and call into one of the beautiful Spanish
Rias and make a pitstop at anchor. We should arrive at the Ria just South
of Cape Finisterre tomorrow afternoon and be on our way again in a few hours if
not tempted to dwell while!
We are eating well - enough food on board for an
army - and we are settling into life at sea.
Love to ur friends and family
