Everyone chilled the next day in Sami before setting off on 24th July,
09.50 hrs for Ithaca.
With a flat calm sea and a gentle 7 knots of wind we motor sailed the 9 n
miles to an anchorage for lunch called Pera Pigadhi. It is very narrow channel
between Ithaca and an islet with about 6m of water, great for swimming.
The drop off of the seabed is substantial on either side and so we had lots of
anchor chain out. The steep slopes of Ithaca, majestic above the waterline
continue their gradient under the sea.
After lunch we headed another 7 n miles to a bay called Skhoinos where we
dropped anchor and then motored stern to the rocks. Tony swam to the shore with
the stern lines and secured them to rocks whilst Pat and myself fed out the
lines and then secured the boat.
We had time together to swim, chill and enjoy one another’s company,
followed by a nice meal on deck soothed by home-made cocktails----- they are
always stronger when you make them yourself---- and so the evening ended with
laughter---as you can imagine.
Love to all
