Hello Everyone,

Well our first day in Zakinthos has been a treat. Within hours of arriving we saw a Scooter with four girls on it--- just great.  In Greece the famous sound of the 50cc mopeds rushing around with whole families on them or girls texting on mobile phones whilst driving and elderly gentlemen with crates on the back full of fruit and veg.

And so today we hired a scooter and visited some of the places we enjoyed 15 years ago. We laughed so much. First of all Tony was faced with a fearsome scooter hire lady who made him drive up and down the street before she would let him hire it.  He was so nervous after not driving one for several years that he wobbled up and down the street and then drove off before she could change her mind !!!

We both got on and away we went like old times, laughing and enjoying travelling again through the countryside with the scents of the land, sun on our faces and the glorious smell of two stroke.

Zakinthos town has become quite cosmopolitan with a very nice atmosphere. It has changed a lot in 15 years and we like it better now. However, the tourist areas on the coast have become more âtouristyâ and far less â Greekâ, but the sandy beaches and the countryside are still as beautiful.
