Hi all,

Whilst safely tied up in Portisco marina we decided to hire a car to explore the interior of Sardinia a little and visit Olbia, Cala Battistone, Porto Cervo and area.

Olbia town is the regions capital. We really liked the narrow streets, Piazza squares and atmosphere.  In the evening the cafés, bars, restaurants and shops hummed with local people and tourists.

Cala Battistone is a very nice tourist resort with a nice beach.

Porto Cervo is the development and creation of the Aga Khan which began in the 1960s. He transformed a stretch of coastline and the bay of Porto Cervo  creating the exclusive Costa Smeralda resort. The Consorzio Costa Smeralda group was formed with architects to design and build the resort in a unique organic style merging  it with traditional Sardinian architecture creating luxury low rise villas. The villas merge into the hillsides with beautiful gardens and pools with understated elegance,. This transformed the area and became a playground for the rich and famous on shore and visiting yachts to the elite Porto Cervo yacht club.
We walked around the development, designer shops and superyachts stern to the quay. We also visited the beautiful church above the marina, again created and built in this unique organic style constructed with  local materials.....beautiful.

The photos below tell the story.....

Love to all
