Hi everyone. We arrived safely in Salcombe after another gentle motor around the corner from Torquay. The weather was bright and sunny with a very slight easterly wind. Not enough to make any headway under sail.

Salcombe was so calm. Lots of empty visitors buoys and space in the river. Not at all like the last time we came. We called the harbour master on the VHF as we motored up the estuary. He came over to greet us giving us a visitors buoy in the middle of the river. Taking our line off the bow, all very civilised . Had a nice evening in the town.

Left early and decided to head to Falmouth. The weather was not looking so good. We were not so lucky with this trip. We headed into a north westerly gale which built up to 28 knots on the nose. We than had two hours of heavy rain. The combination of high wind and heavy rain made the trip very unpleasant. We both got quite cold and wet. It was a reminder that after the glorious weather of the last week the journey across Biscay is going to be hard and the weather potentially cold and wet.

Anyway, we are now sitting in Pendennis Marina in Falmouth. In a nice warm sheltered spot. We have a few days work on final preparations to the boat and starting to track the weather forecasts. Fortunately we have good wifi access and therefore weather information is easy available.

Our friend Rob is joining us on Thursday and our final crew member John joining us on Friday evening. We are planning, weather permitting to leave on Saturday morning.
