We have written about Port Atheni a few times now as we keep returning to the lovely bay, perhaps a natural port once but now a simple place and so we will let the lovely photographs of the shoreline and turquoise water speak for themselves.

However, on this visit we ate at the one taverna in the corner of the bay. Great local home-cooked food. On certain nights the sailing flotillas arrive and the tiny taverna becomes quite full.

At around 10.30pm when everyone had finished their meals-----------the cook, the waiter and the owner suddenly linked arms on shoulders in the middle of the restaurant, loud Greek dance music was turned on from a speaker in the kitchen and they broke into traditional dance!!

This continued for about 4 dances, whilst they encouraged the visitors to join in.  Suddenly the music changed to kitsch---------- the Bee Gees,‘Staying Alive’,  Village people’s, ‘YMCA’,  Tom Jones, ‘Sex Bomb’ and........ finally, Abba’s, ‘Dancing Queen’.  We were not sure who had the most fun, the visitors or the locals !!!!!!!

For the following 3 nights around 10.30pm we heard the same Greek music followed by ‘Staying Alive’ etc coming from the direction of the taverna--------and laughter.

Photos of ..........
The lovely simple bay of Port Atheni , the shoreline and our private swimming ‘pool’ with fish behind the boat.

Love to all
