We motored the 15 miles from the Island of Ithaca the North tip of Kefalonia and into the lovely natural harbour and quayside of Fiskardho.
We dropped anchor watching it hit the seabed in clear water and maneuvered stern to the quay.   It was a great moment as it was our first âstern to the tavernaâ.
We visited Fiskardho 10 years ago in July/August and found it rammed with boats and tourists, not really liking it, but out of main season it is fab.
The quay was full of yachts but the tavernas and little shops and alleyways had a nice mixture of locals and visitors.  Fiskardho fortunately survived the 1953 earthquake and so has a lovely mixture of Venetian architecture.  Sadly much of the stunning architecture from the 400 years of Venetian rule was destroyed in the capital, Argostoli.

We found the shops and restaurants quite sophisticated with designed interiors, a world apart from the old simple ones we used to visit.  It brings mixed emotions to see---- the tavernas are very well designed with a combination of old and new but something is lost in the process-------- and places become similar to other Mediterranean destinations.

The stay however was lovely and the photos tell the story.....................

Lots love
