So we set off again to cross the Atlantic bound for the Azores.  Most of you will know that we had to abandon the last attempt as we had a couple of electronics systems fail within the first few hours.  The satphone was going to be our only source of detailed weather info en-route, so that was mission critical.  We’ve now got a new one (hired, the old one was beyond repair in the USA), so we are off again.  We’ve enjoyed the two weeks in Charleston and were very glad not to be at sea when tropical storm Ana, which materialised weeks before the start of the hurricane season and is the earliest since 1952, dithered around.  The forecast does not contain any threats right now and we’ve even stocked up on extra fuel to get us through some light winds expected in the first few days – we just need to get moving now!
