Gocek

A short motor to the sailing capital of this area, known to enforce draconian rules on any discharges into their waters including detergent, so a little scary. Gocek is at the head of a very long gulf surrounded by islands and anchorages galore, the waters were a bit murky and we couldn’t see how anyone would even know you had showered/washed dishes etc below. Seeing quite what a yachting centre it is we decided to stay a few days to get a quote for work on the boat (turned out to be the most expensive so far). Our time wasn’t wasted though as we got in a few runs and had a couple of great meals ashore. It’s a very attractive setting and particularly when the sunset turned the pine covered hills behind us a ruddy gold. We also stumbled across a Turkish wedding celebration in the town’s main outdoor space and it seemed as if the whole local population were invited to join in the exuberant dancing. It looked great fun! |
