We ended up doing 2 “legs” today, as the planned stop in Torrevieja was a bit dull, so we just stayed for lunch.  To our surprise we’ve found a really nice anchorage off the beach in Alicante, where we’ll pick Sally & Chris up in 10 days or so.  We’re now on a mission to find interesting places to take them along the coast hereabouts during the 4 days they are with us.

I’m not allowed to say sailing things anymore, so I won’t talk about the fab few hours running under gennaker (that’s the pretty coloured one), sailing in the buff.

Alicante is a cut above most of the touristy places we have been passing on the costas as it has a proper old heart and a  terrific fortress on a rocky hillside as a dramatic backdrop (see photo).  We has an energetic morning today, starting with a row (David) and swim (Lindsay) to shore, followed by a run along the beach (longer in D’s case) and then the same back to the boat.  We then walked all the way to the top of the hill to see the castle in the heat.  Felt we’d earned our beers for a change.
