Cala Moreya
The expected day of strong winds which kept us on Cabrera abated overnight, so after morning walk towards the lighthouse, we set off at lunchtime to shorten the crossing to Minorca. After a complicated sail, we ended up anchored off a beach ⅔ up the E coast of Mallorca, and spent a very quiet night, resting before a long day’s crossing. The complicated bit was a light wind coming from nearly behind us, worsened by a bit of swell. We had a short attempt with our lovely big & colourful gennaker, but could keep it pulling. We then managed a lovely long sail “goosewinged” (front sail kept out on the “wrong” side by a pole), having finally worked out how to do this without wearing the ropes through (thanks to our friend Mike in Valencia for that tip!). |
