Sagres (Algarve)
After a necessary day recuperating, washing etc at Sines (pronounced “cinch” apparently), we had another “Portuguese coast” day: too much swell to be able to sail properly (should have had gennaker out again), so we motored almost all the way around Cape St Vincent. Tiny panic as the engine noise suddenly changed as we approached the turn, but it just turned out to be the engine blower failing (easily replaced we hope). We saw loads of dolphins again – I think they like the music (we’re exploring our old LPs recorded on the PC as we sail). Now we’re at anchor we can see them leaping around offshore – fishing I think. Wind is still strong and cool, sea temp below 18C, so no way we’re swimming yet. So we’re finally on a south coast – the Algarve, headed east to the med! Another 1st – we’re off to join the French couple for supper on there boat in a minute.
