More milestones passed:

Saw Africa!  Our first glimpse of another continent from our own transport.  Just a smudge on the horizon became the mighty Atlas mountains as the day progressed.

Cape Trafalgar: not very impressive to look at, but what a history!

Tarifa: the most southerly point (36deg N) where we turned north towards the Med.  It’s famous for strong winds, which weren’t so bad.  This was more than made up for by 30kts in Gibraltar Bay and a hellish chop, not to mention having to dodge high speed ferries and weave around some very large ships.

So we’re in Gibraltar: what a weird experience, like being back in Britain, but hot, hot, hot!  We’ve actually made it to the Med. at last after 7 weeks.

We are now in a comfortable marina below the famous rock and getting used to the surreal change of culture – a large branch of Morrison’s supermarket, Marks and Spencers etc and pubs with ham, egg and chips on the menu.
