Heading north again - decision taken for the ICW, we slipped out of Morehead City and on up through Core Creek. Passing shrimpers, tugs pushing barges, houses with private helicopters in their garden(!), beautiful trees (some evidence of the past years hurricanes) and grasslands. Out into open rivers (Neuse River) sounds (Pamlico) wide enough to set the sails and readh across in 15-20 knot winds at 7-8 knots!

As the statutory miles slipped (measurement used on the ICW) away it became apparent we could get to a marina close to the Wilkersen Birdge (more on that tomorrow). So, a last minute race against the sunset to make the marina in time to tie up in the semi-darkness, lit by the fingernail moon and Venus rising. The dockhands of Dowry Creek marina had stayed late to welcome us in (and catch the lines).very friendly!
