A cloudy day - thank goodness as the heat of the sun yesterday was scorching whilst we waited for vessel clearance. A much needed boat wash down and clean as the morning northerly wind blew across the marina. Then a hop-on hop-off "Tourista" bus to take us into the nearby town of Varadero. Plenty of classic cars, horse-drawn carriages and three wheeler "bajecks" (or pedicabs) paraded the main street touting for fares. Small market stalls and Government run shops lined the streets along with (Government run) restaurants and bars - a lively place to stroll up and down, meander in the shops or just take a beer and listen to the rhythmic Cuban music.

The beachfront, only a block away provided relief from the main street before catching the bus back to the marina resort.
Chatting to our neighbor as their route being the same as ours to Havana revealed an early warning of an strong easterly cold front developing Sunday for a week - noting that marina Hemmingway entrance can be closed in winds of 25 knots - we both decided to take the prudent weather window and leave tomorrow for an overnight to Havana - planning arrival Sunday mid-day, before the cold front arrives!
