Morning starts with drilling again - a bigger hole to access those elusive windlass electrical wires - finally accessing them - voltage check indicates the motor is in some way burnt out - not the ships wiring. - problem solved but not the solution - even at Marine Liquidators (an Aladdin’s cave otherwise a warehouse) of miscellaneous ships’ items could not supply a new windlass motor..

So, time to go - we left the marina at mid-day (high tide to clear the barge on exit), quick stop at the fuel dock the re-load our life-raft and away to the Bahamas - BUT wait - we read the cloud formations over breakfast - "alto-cumulus" (flocks of sheep) - thunderstorms in the afternoon – never-mind a little rain won't hurt - off we went to cross the Gulf Stream and make for West End - Grand Bahamas Island.

The afternoon started well - sailing south along the east coast before crossing the Gulf Stream. First attempt part way across indicated a strong northerly current - so back to the East coast to sail further south - and then again we crossed the Stream after 5-6 hours reaching mid-way Little Bahama Bank - good, but still a southerly wind to contend with to get to the West End....then came the thunderstorms (as the morning clouds had predicted). Winds hit 45 knots - not much to do but "weather it out" (or "hold fast") - several storms later we were (almost) back where we started by first light...more tomorrow.
