Back to the river

Well, the refit complete, we move back to the river and into the very basic marina to be closer to shops and people.  Anchoring out is easy but at anchor there is no water and no electricity.  In this humidity the air cooler / dehumidifier is fairly essential especially in the evening. And Amarin still insists on showering on a regular basis.

The town itself is nice and we are in cycling distance of decent shops.  We do not have many Covid cases in the province but there are some and so I install a portable deep freeze to reduce the frequency of shopping trips and close contact with people.

I extend my visa and the boat’s visa but who knows what is going to happen when my visa expires in September.  Perversely the boat can stay for two and a half years.  Next door neighbour Malaysia is firmly closed so going to another country is out of the question.  Here all of the national parks are closed and so we are not allowed to anchor there, which is most of the best anchorages.  Just what the risk is of a yacht dropping anchor is beyond the comprehension of most people; except the Thai authorities.

The vaccine roll out in Thailand is dead slow and stop with the information changing on a daily basis.  First they say foreigners will not be eligible then they reverse that saying that foreigners must be vaccinated.

Every day is a new adventure. But we may move back to expensive Phuket at the end of the month…
