Unbelievably
DHL have still to clear my charts through customs. Gigi swearing at them in Thai helps, but not
much. An unseasonal weather system comes
through with strong winds and lots of rain.
When it clears we head around to the west side of Phuket but only stay
one night as there is a huge swell rolling in making the boat very
uncomfortable.
Back in the
peace of Chalong we anchor between two classic wooden schooners. We have regular runs ashore between boat
chores and Gigi training – rowing, dinghy and outboard operation, radio use (both VHF and
SSB) knots and basic navigation.
The
paperwork for Sri Lanka in onerous but I finally get it done. I also apply for my permit to go to the
Chagos Islands (British Indian Overseas Territory). It will take Whitehall six weeks to process
this. Six weeks, that is, is all my
submissions are correct.
And still we
are not at the beautiful Similan Islands.
Bloody DHL…
