Ao Phangng Bay

I head off
into Ao Phangnga Bay made famous by its appearance in the James Bond movie, The
Man with the Golden Gun. The scenery is
utterly spectacular, and, as it is high season there are more tourist boats
than you can count. They kick up huge
wakes making anchorages rolly and sight-seeing difficult during the day. But before 1000 and after 1700 I have the
sights to myself. The advantage of
having my own boat. Looking at the high
cliffs you would expect the water to be incredibly deep but it is seldom more
than 8 metres and frequently I find myself creeping along at 1.5 knots with one
metre below the keel.
