Arriving in
Myanmar you instantly see poverty everywhere after 50 years of military
rule. Cars are mostly in poor
condition. The busses are falling
apart. And you just do not want to see
the city centre apartments. But everyone
seems happy and optimistic the new leader of the country will bring about
change. But do not hold your
breath. Infrastructure change will take
a long time and money is scarce. And the
military still control most of the major companies. Foreign investment is almost nil but some is
now beginning to appear.
This is a
country I would like to visit again in 10 years to see what has happened.
