Inle Lake is
a sight to behold. It is very shallow
and in its middle has about 30 square miles of floating gardens which are
prevented from moving about by sticking millions of huge bamboo canes through
them and into the lake bed. And people live out here in houses on stilts but
you need a boat to visit your next door neighbour.
The lake is
also home to the famous fishermen who stand on one leg, paddle their boat with
another and then cast a circular net.
Quite a skill.
We also
visited a teak bridge nearby. It is the
longest wooden bridge in the world and still in pretty good order.
I have
included a few photographs of some funny signs I saw.
