Visa run and refit

Coming into Thailand as a captain I get a 30 day visa which cannot be extended.  With Easter and Sonkran (Thai new year) coming up travel is not that easy and I do an overnight visa run to Kuala Lumpar.  I stay at the majestic Movenpic hotel and on arrival discover that although it is part of an international chain this property is strictly Halal.  No beer.  Now there is a first for me.

Arriving back I get a 30 day tourist visa which I can extend for another 30 days. I haul out the boat and start work in huge temperatures.  My two surprises are some rot in the top of the foremast and a blown battery which has obviously overheated.  It had a small leak from early in its life which the supplier would not stand over.  These big deep cycle batteries are 700 pounds Sterling each.  I need two as you cannot link a new battery with a used battery.  They should last seven years or more.  These are only two years old.  The original supplier does not get a look in on the replacement.

Back in the water I now have a christening to look forward to.  A quick run to London and back at the end of the month.
