The anchorage was crowded (including six boats I knew well)and finding a space was not easy. Also the holding was difficult, boulders in deep water. On two sides you have high cliffs and ahead a steep valley so the wind goes in circles with occasional violent gusts from the valley. Spectacularly beautiful but no feeling of security. I stayed aboard that day. Next morning Sea whisper and I went hiking after a lot of boats had left, leaving me with plenty of room. We climbed high, came back down and bought poplemouse and oranges from an old lady - she had them growing in her garden. Arriving back a boat had anchored too close to my starboard bow (French, of course). Later in the evening a catamaran anchored too close to my port bow (French again).e sail
Next morning at 0600 I woke the first French boat to lift my anchor which they were over the top of. Sapphire, another single hander left at the same time, he for Hiva Oa me for Tahuata. A beautiful 45 mile sail across in bright sunshine....
