Cleared into Thailand

Well, thankfully my third test is negative and I get back into the marina at Boat Lagoon at 0930 on 31st December.  Amarin joins the crew, nearly on schedule.

Most of the old team are here but several are stranded outside Thailand not able to get back in due to the closed border. In the meantime the new English owner of the pub we normally go to has alienated everybody and so a move is made to another bar 100 yards along the boardwalk.  The Thai owner and his Russian wife make alterations to the bar to suit the new customers. Now that is service for you.

I have some work to be done.  Well, I always have some work to be done.  Hopefully it will not take more than a week.  Then we can go cruising.  It is high season but with the depletion of tourists we will have the beaches and hongs to ourselves.  And will save Baht 30,000 (about 750 pounds) a month on marina fees. But our cruising may be restricted to the island of Phuket.  With a recent spike in cases here (by Thai standards) it is possible that individual states will lock down.

So a certain amount of boat work and a certain amount of relaxation…
