I arrive in Bangkok, a city choked with traffic. There are some impressive sights but generally I am unimpressed; looking forward to Cambodia and Laos.
The Golden Buddha is very impressive. At five and a half tons of gold I calculate that if I melt him down I will get £120 million. But then the Thai people will probably melt me down.
I take a long walk to the Grand Palace expecting the King to invite me in for tea but when I arrive I discover that he does not live there any more. If he has left this palace empty I wonder what his new joint is like....
