After two coats of epoxy and nine coats of Perfection on the masts they are wrapped up. Three coats of Everdure and 11 coats of Uroxys on the rubbing strake together with many other jobs and Wild Fox is outside again. I had not planned on all this varnish work but last year's job in Ecuador just did not work. And there is still more varnishing to come. My Duogen just has never been compatible with the back end of the boat and I am fitting a Watt&Sea water generator and a SilentWind wind generator. Also a technology implant for my SSB radio which has deteriorated over the years.

Anico from Hamburg moves in beside me as I prepare for a five week tour of the south island; two three day hikes, three days on Stewart Island, seven days of wine tasting (proportions here seem balanced), one day of white water rafting, two days on glaciers and two days down on Milford Sound. With lots more in between. On the way down the north island I will meet up with old friends from Bangor, Peter Kernohan and Eleanor Whitehead.

Then the south Island adventure begins....
