Mystery Island is about half a mile from Aneityum and has the only flat bit of ground available. So there is an airstrip. The locals then built walk ways and offer cruise ship passengers the chance to come ashore on a desert island. Hardly a desert island when there are 2,000 passengers ashore. They set up stalls selling drinks and souvenirs and offer all sorts of snorkeling and sea trips. One snorkeling trip is described as "Suitable for all ages, even old people". I should go on that one!

The local schools send out choirs as a fund raiser and everyone has a good time. Eight hours later the ship is on its way to New Caledonia and next day I have a fast 48 mile run to Tanna which has a real live volcano.
