I am within a few miles of being half way to Sabang. I should have been here days ago but somebody stole the south west monsoon and for a lot of the time I have been drifting, thankfully with a little current going in the right direction. I am now averaging less than 50 miles a day. I still am not close enough to motor; I don't want to motor anyway.

But if fuel and wind condition permit I may bypass Sabang (both doubtful) and go straight on to Langkawi. Sabang is a lovely place, very beautiful, but with a couple of drawbacks. The check in procedures are a pain; OK if staying for a couple of weeks. And there will be no friends there anymore. This part of Indonesia is not just Muslim but under Sharia Law. Ramadan will be on when i arrive and so the party potential will be a tad reduced…
