I changed my
house batteries in Thailand less than a year ago. One of them is leaking gel. I cannot get a replacement here in Sri Lanka
and it is doubtful I will get one in the Maldives. In practice I need two as you should not put
a new battery with an old one. They were
stg 600 pounds each and are under warranty.
In the meantime the Maldives government have massively reduced the
number of places where yachts may go (no explanation given) and at the same time have increased the
fees for the anchorage in Male, the capital.
A short visit to this strange country is now going to cost about US$2,000 in fees. The cruising permit alone
is US$350. And there has been no wind
for a month. I mean none.
My very nice
neighbours leave in their catamaran.
Their replacement comes in and hits me leaving score marks on my beautiful
varnish. French, of course…
