I have a middle ear infection and the drugs are murder.  So New Year’s Eve is quiet.  On 3rd January I head off to the airport to collect my new crew instead of making her get a taxi (nice Anthony).  Politely she arrives from Singapore on time having changed other arrangements so that she can celebrate her birthday on Wild Fox.  It is too hot to cook on the boat so I take her out to dinner (very nice Anthony). Of course I have organised a really nice birthday cake (super nice Anthony).

Next day we provision and in the early afternoon head out of the marina in strong wind anchoring behind a small island.  In the morning we are off to Nai Harn, about 20 miles away.  Two different boats just arriving in Phuket call us up on the radio.  The thing about Wild Fox is that she is so recognizable that it is hard to hide.  But it is always nice to talk to old friends.

Then DHL contact me next morning to say there is a problem with customs in Bangkok over my Indian Ocean Charts arriving from England so we backtrack to the main harbour of Chalong to try to sort things out.  It will help to have a native Thai speaker to deal with these people.  I hope…
