Back in the water

The crane arrives and the masts go back in.  On a junk rigged boat there is lots of ‘string’ attached to the top of each mast, all carefully labeled by yours truly.  But I still get one on the wrong side but the crane pulls me up and hey presto.

So after almost exactly four weeks we splash back into the water.  And move out of the condo with its air conditioning, satellite TV and shower.  A nasty fresh water leak caused by a carless woodworker in Phuket is repaired.  It takes three of us to wrestle an uncooperative replacement pipe into place. And after some minor adjustments a small leak in the rebuilt toilet is cured.  We want to go back to Krabi town to be near to shops and things to do but my boat needs to renew its six month visa and so we have to sit tight as it is a drawn out process during which time we are not allowed to move.  No comment!

With a spike in Covid cases in Thailand Phuket is now a red zone and we cannot go there but it is an expensive place  if we go to a marina and really only one safe anchorage now that the South West Monsoon has started.  And it has no shops.

The water here comes from a pond and cannot be drunk so we import purified water.  Some of the containers are 18 litres and some are 20.  But all are the same price.  Pot luck really…
