The marina is rough and ready but serviceable (there is nowhere practical to anchor).  I haul out, go to Peru and on my return work seven days a week on the boat.  The boat yard is good, in fact excellent,  but they bring a whole new dimension to the word "slow".  There is an American expat community here and we meet up every so often in what is known as the Gringo Bar.

Christmas is a non event here but we go to Big Ralph's (from Portsmouth) for a traditional dinner.  New Year is mayhem.  People buy effigies stuffed with fireworks and burn them on the beach.  Nobody goes to work (except your truly) for several days.
