All is well in the wee hours of the morning in St. Helena's
James Bay. We sailed slowly the last 80 miles, pulled down the downwind
rig in the dark (no mishaps!), and crept into James Bay under a half-moon at 3am
local time (5 hours ahead of US EST). All is quiet except for Don's
well-deserved snoring.
More in a few days after we get our bearings (and if we're
lucky, straighten out our water maker and fridge/freezer issues). From
what we could see in the moonlight, St. Helena looks lovely - shades of the
Marquesas' lush volcanic mountains in French Polynesia. As much as we
don't like nighttime arrivals, waking up to a fantastic view is always a
thrill.
