Bruce, our weatherman, is routing us around a low that has formed to our north, and one forming to our south.  This is good news for us because the course he suggested put the wind on the beam instead of forward.  This way we tip sideways more, but slam the bow into the waves less, which is good.  We'd be almost comfortable right now if the wind hadn't climbed up to 30 knots, generating lots of massive waves.  Even the generator isn't happy - it's cooling water pump continues to lose its prime when the boat motion is too rough.  Hmmm.....we'll have to try and run it again later when it is calmer....assuming it will get calmer.  We'll get Bruce's latest update in a few minutes when this is sent - we're hoping he says to turn off the wind some more and head straight for Mauritius, 635 miles away.  That would make for a more comfortable ride, and pointing directly at our destination will do wonders for our moral.

We are anticipating a Sunday morning arrival in Mauritius.  We are just over half way there, but the second half of our journey will go much faster due to all this wind.  We are going fast at 8 or 9 knots with only a handkerchief of headsail and mizzen out, and no main at all.  We could go faster, but sometimes too much speed can be scary, so we decided to be conservative.

We are both fine.  The trip isn't dangerous or scary, just uncomfortable and grueling.  Mauritius might turn out to be the most anticipated arrival port ever for us...and that's saying something after some of the more 'interesting' passages we've had.

Happy Birthday Mom!!!
