We really did leave this morning and had a grand send-off from Storyteller as they escorted us out of the anchorage (in the pouring rain) and blew their big air horn as a final good-bye.  We were honored.

At the moment, we are only 18 miles west of Phuket.  The wind is light, the sea flat, the sky overcast with rain squalls around (nothing scary).  We sailed veeerrrryyy slowly for a few hours, but I hear by the rumble of the engine that Don has just given up.  Ah well, we'll sail as much as we can, but when our speed goes below 3 knots (3.5 mph), it's hard to stick with it.  We've resigned ourselves to a 9 day passage that could possibly turn into a 12 day passage if the wind remains light.  We might have to come up with new and different ways to entertain ourselves if this becomes the case.

More tomorrow.
