We are continuing to crawl along at less than 5 knots with the hefty 2 - 2.5 knot current still against us.  In a little less than two days, we have only gone 200 miles.  This is an all time low for us.  At this rate, we won't get to the Galapagos on Thursday as planned.  Hopefully Friday is the latest we will arrive since each day we are delayed means we'll have one less day to enjoy the Galapagos before we have to leave for the Marquesas.  The weather is fine and the seas are flat.  The wind has come up a little bit, which is allowing us to motorsail, but in general, the current is killing us!  We are hoping the current will back off over the next sixty miles or so...

In the meantime, here on the boat, our passenger is still doing well although boredom may be setting in.  The playing cards have come out and I think we are going to get a lesson in some Ecuadorian card games.  The Ipod got a workout yesterday with The Beatles, Janis Joplin and The Police getting top billing.  Isn't it funny that even an Ecuadorian teenager is a fan of classic rock?  (The two years Oscar spent with his father on Long Island back in 2000-2002 probably had some influence on these music choices though.)

The World ARC radio net discussion at noon today should be interesting.  We expect to hear a lot of concern from boats worried about their fuel supply.  Luckily we have plenty, and may end up loaning some to a needy boat, if necessary.

Cheers from the flat Pacific.
