And we are off.  And it is cold.

We left Baltimore, as planned (of course as planned, would it be any different with Don directing?) on Wednesday, 11/7, and headed directly south down the Chesapeake Bay in search of warmer weather.  We didn't find it.  However, it was about the best sail we've had so far with good wind behind us, no waves and speeds over 10 knots at times.  Quite excellent.   But chilly.  See Don outfitted for skiing in the first picture.

We got as far as the Patuxent River, which is just north of the Potomac River, a really good run for one day with limited daylight time.  It was incredibly peaceful there (picture 2) with little or no activity (too darn cold!), but lots of boats parked in about eight marinas which are crammed into this small inlet.  We anchored with two other crazy cold-weather boaters in a spot beyond the marinas and spent a quiet night sleeping under four blankets wearing three clothing layers (long underwear and various other thermal layers in case you were wondering).  We woke up to 45 degrees in our cabin this morning.  I'm all for camping, but not necessarily while boating.

Did I mention it was cold?
Anne
