As promised, below are the pictures that go along
with the last couple of blog updates.
Picture 1: This is Benures Bay on Norman
Island....pretty deserted except for us, a very nice place to be.
Picture 2: This is our rolly anchorage in
Road Harbour. The giant catamaran you see is the boat from France that
squeezed itself into our tiny anchorage community and had many speedo-wearing
men on board.
Picture 3: This is a cruise ship backing out
of the Road Harbour dock (which was very close to where we were anchored).
A new hobby of ours is cruise ship departure watching. It's kind of like
whale watching except that you are guaranteed to see the cruise ship depart, and
it usually happens during happy hour, which is a nice coincidence.
Picture 4: We spent four days in Great
Harbour, Peter Island waiting for bad weather to pass us by, and much of that
time was spent on boat projects. Here's proof. That's Don down in
the engine compartment sweating his butt off changing the generator
oil.
Picture 5: More proof that we were really
working hard those four days in Great Harbour - laundry on the line, the drogue
laying out to dry and Don down in the engine room (again).
Picture 6: Although we were busy in Great
Harbour, we were never too busy to stop and admire the sunset.
Picture 7: Proof that there can be bad
weather in the Caribbean. This is part of the nasty low pressure system
that went through Sunday and Monday. We heard this morning that this
system was bad enough to warrant a name - Olga. We can attest to
that, we spent two somewhat sleepless nights in Great Harbour while the
wind howled and the rain pounded down. All was fine (as it should
have been, we had two hefty anchors out) and we left Great Harbour this
morning (Tuesday, 12/11), and are now in Trellis Bay on the east end of Tortola
(more on Trellis Bay another day).
