On Wednesday (12/5) we sailed from Cane Garden Bay
on Tortola to Benures Bay on Norman Island (part of the British Virgin
Islands). We had planned to sail to Road Harbour on Tortola, which is
where the main town is (Road Town) and where the electronics place is that we
have an appointment with on Friday (12/7) to take a look at
our temperamental depth meter. However, the wind was not cooperating,
so we sailed to Norman Island instead. It was a very nice
sail through the Sir Francis Drake Channel (runs between Tortola and St.
John as well as some of the smaller BVIs) despite the zig zag pattern we were
forced to sail given the less than desirable wind direction.
Ending up in Benures Bay on Norman Island was not
such a bad thing at all. The bay was deserted except for one charter boat
and we had the place pretty much to ourselves. Snorkeling lesson #3 took
place successfully with no sightings of killer fish.
Pictures to follow when we have a high speed
internet connection.
