After an eventful night of high winds moderating to good-enough-to-sail winds, we arrived with no problem in Alofi Bay on the island country of Niue at about 10am local time this morning (we are now seven hours behind EST).

The welcome we've received has been more enthusiastic and genuine than any place we've been so far, which is marvelous, and the people speak their native language as well as, yes, English!  First time since we left St. Lucia in January that we've been in a country where the official language is English.  The customs people asked us a few questions and we had to bite our tongues not to answer, 'wee' or 'si' like we've been programmed to do over the last four months.  We've forgotten how nice it is to walk down the street and actually understand what people are saying.  Wow.

More on this place and pictures from Suwarrow to follow in the next few days.  We will only be here for two or three days maximum before moving on to Tonga, which will be a short two-day sail west.  We wouldn't mind staying longer, but there are only twenty moorings and because there is no dock and it is too difficult to anchor here, we have to leave to make room for other incoming rally boats.

Cheers from the tiny country of Niue and its 1500 English speaking inhabitants.
